Consultant Interventional Radiologist
Dr Radha K Popuri is a Consultant Interventional Radiologist at The Royal Prince Alfred Hospital. He has over 15 years of experience and is an expert in vascular and lymphatic malformation management, venous interventions and TIPS/Portal hypertension management.
Dr Popuri graduated from Osmania Medical College, Hyderabad, India, in 2000. He then went on to train in Internal Medicine at Aberdeen Royal Infirmary, Aberdeen, UK, including a one-year position at registrar level in Oncology. He underwent Radiology training In the Manchester Radiology Training Scheme, Manchester including a one-year subspecialty training attachment in Vascular and Interventional Radiology. He completed a one-year Vascular and Interventional Radiology fellowship at the Mallinckrodt Institute of Radiology, Barnes Jewish Hospital, WUSTL, St. Louis, USA.
Dr Popuri worked as a Consultant Interventional Radiologist at the Pennine Acute Hospitals NHS Trust, Manchester. He arrived in Australia in September 2012 to establish a full-time Interventional Radiology service at Orange Health Service.
He is the lead interventional radiologist for the HCC, Vascular and Gastroenterology MDTs at RPAH.
He is the current treasurer and public officer of the Interventional Radiology Society of Australasia (IRSA). He is a Clinical Lecturer at the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, Macquarie University.
His current research interests are the role of Interventional Radiology in the management of degenerative joint disorders, including osteoarthritis and adhesive capsulitis.
In his leisure time, he likes to spend time with his family and play chess.
